Your appointment includes a consultation to confirm your desired loc size (traditional, medium, or small), parting pattern, and overall look. The hair is then cleansed and prepped as needed, sectioned carefully, and your starter locs are installed using the method best suited to your hair type and lifestyle (typically coils or two-strand twists). Tension is kept controlled to protect your scalp and edges while ensuring your parts are neat and your starters are uniform. Timing and pricing vary based on hair length, density, and the size/number of locs you’re starting. For best results, arrive with your hair clean, fully detangled, and free of heavy oils, butters, or waxes. Consistent early maintenance is recommended to help your starter locs mature properly and to keep your parting clean as your locs begin to form.
